A vertical conveyor is used to carry heavy loads but it cannot carry a person. Such a conveyor belt is usually used to bridge two points of different elevation so that the load can be carried easily. Also known as cargo movers, the vertical conveyors are hydraulically actuated and are conveniently used to lift products from one level to the other. It is also used in the shipping agency where you are supposed to lift heavy cargos from the dock to the ship. Product transfer is steady and is much safer as compared to the other conveyor types.
As an incline conveyor is set at a certain angle it is used to transfer material from the floor to mezzanines or to different levels where the products are supposed to be lifted at certain heights. A good conveyor is able to carry a weight of about 1250 pounds on an average if it is evenly distributed. An incline conveyor is provided with brakes to control the speed of the conveyor when the load is being lifted. Such a conveyor moves at a standard speed of about 65 feet per minute and the speed varies with the inclination angle. Conveyors are provided with a lower horizontal feeder section for better support.
